Paire, Kanoa prevail

Pairs Football Club shut down Matansa FC, 4-0, while Kanoa FC outclassed TanHoldings FC, 5-2, in the pair of masters division games in the 2019 Dove Women’s Fall League last Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex.

Paire eased to victory after getting its offensive game going in the second half. Three different players hit the board for Paire in the final half with Shawna Brennflect scoring in the 34th minute and Lindsay Davis in the 43rd. Tanuja Edvalson closed out for Paire in the 46th minute, while Patricia Coleman handed the team’s its first goal in the one-sided game after finding the back of the net in the fifth.

In the other masters division match, Kanoa also played better in the second half to top TanHoldings.

Kanoa and TanHoldings were in a deadlock after the first half with Eunnie Benavente recording the pair of goals for the latter and Manami Manglona and Katherine Mersai registering one apiece for the former.

A goal from Lanie Santos in the 41st minute broke the tie, while Manglona made it a 4-2 lead for Kanoa nine minutes later and the winning team was awarded an own goal to complete a strong showing in the second half.

Meanwhile, Kanoa also won in the Division A game last Friday against Paire via forfeit, while TanHoldings prevailed in the other match in the group after downing Matansa, 6-4.

Kaithlyn Chavez lifted TanHoldings to victory after making a hat trick. She scored twice in the first half with her first goal coming in the 13th minute and the second six minutes later, while her last was logged in the 30th.

Katrina Costales added a pair after converting her shots in the 23rd and 36th minute, while Mary Joy Aniana added one after lighting up the board in the 24th.

While three players teamed up in handing TanHoldings the win, Matansa leaned solely on Jannah Casarino, who scored in the 10th, 14th, 32nd, and 50th minute.

In other results last Friday, Southern United dominated TanHoldings in the lone Division B game, 7-2.

Erin Frink stood up for Southern United with her four goals, while Keisha Deleon Guerrero chipped in two and Marinel Falalimpa contributed one. TanHoldings’ two goals all came from Rizza Relucio.
