All three winners received a cash prize and a set of art supplies.
Students from various private and public schools participated in the contest. There were a total of 336 submissions: 166 entries for the 12-17 division, 165 for the 6-11 division, and five for the Soudelor-inspired category.
“I couldn’t be more grateful to all participating artists for making this year’s art contest an overwhelmingly successful one,” said Pacifica Insurance executive vice president Shirley Sablan. “It was not an easy task for our judges this year.”
The judging panel included Pena House/Iridescent owner Michelle Lin Sablan, Marianas Variety publisher Laila Younis Boyer, Get Fit CNMI partnering owner and freelance photographer Jose Quan, and Northern Marianas Humanities Council board member Robert Hunter.
Artists were asked to create an original art piece centered on the slogan “Rest assured it’s Christmas” and one focused on post-Typhoon Soudelor. Permitted mediums included water paint, oil-based paint, pastels, crayons, and pencils. Maximum dimensions were 18 inches by 24 inches.
Art work of all winners and some of Pacifica’s top picks will be made available for viewing on the company’s art contest Web page, www.pacificains.com/artcontest.
