Pacific Northwest resident donates relief goods
Pacific Northwest residents recently extended assistance to Typhoon Soudelor victims by donating a 40-foot container of relief goods and other much needed supplies to Saipan.
The donations were turned over to the Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation for distribution to the typhoon victims.
The 40-foot container was filled with food, clothes, shoes, baby wipes, beddings, water, school supplies, personal hygiene products, tents, batteries, boxes of hydropacks, and some medical supplies.
The container was shipped for free to Saipan, courtesy of CTSI Logistics, Matson Navigation Inc., and Cargo Express.
“EVM is very honored to receive the goods for distribution on their behalf. We are touched and blessed by their utmost generosity. …EVM also expresses its gratitude to the generous shipping and logistics companies, as well as those hard working volunteers who showed up and helped to take down all those goods from the container,” the foundation said in a statement.
Among the groups that helped out were Agape Christian School, John Blanco and his football team, SM Mart Saipan, DMS National Honor Society, Pacific Trading Co. Ltd., Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, Life In The Son members, and Jesse Tudela.
Sons of Saipan in Guam also donated 100 futons, while Rota residents donated clothes and shoes.
According to the Empty Vessel Foundation, this is the second container that they have received for typhoon relief efforts. Last September, EVM received the first 40-foot container from residents of Hawaii (Aloha Saipan). It iontained clothing, shoes, bedding, mattresses, water, medical equipment, tents, tarps, batteries, and food, which were all distributed to the affected victims.
EVM partners who helped distribute these much needed supplies and goods were Talaabwogh Stars, CORE, and CNMI Women Association.
