Pacific Cup tryouts this weekend

Tryouts for Oceania Cycling Confederation’s Pacific Cup will be held this Sunday, Aug. 9, in Marpi.

The tryout will be 10 miles or 16.09 kilometers and will start at Banzai Cliff before proceeding south to the Mobil Oil gas station in Tanapag and turn back toward Banzai Cliff. The race will have a go time of exactly at 6am.

The tryout will determine the CNMI’s delegates to the Pacific Cup set in Guam on Dec. 10 and 12, 2021. The Pacific Cup will have a time trial on Dec. 10 and the 105-km road race will be held two days later on Dec. 12.

According to the Oceania Cycling Confederation, eligibility criteria for the Pacific Cup are the following:

– Competitors must be members of a Pacific national federation affiliated with Oceania CC

– Competitors must be 19 years of age or older in 2021

– Competitors must be citizens of the country they are representing or have resident status in that country for a continuous period of four years up to the event

– Maximum entries from any one nation is five riders in any one event
