Barbara P. Cabrera, caseworker assistant for the Independent Living Older Blind program under the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, will conduct outreach to the Tinian and Rota communities in July.

In coordination with the Tinian and Rota Offices on Aging, the Tinian outreach will take place at the Tinian Man’amko Center on July 22 from 9am to 2pm, while the Rota outreach is scheduled for July 28 from 10am to 2pm at the Rota Man’amko Center. OVR extends its appreciation to Evelyn David of Tinian and Henry Atalig of Rota for their assistance in coordinating these events.

Individuals age 55 or older with severe visual impairment who are interested in applying for ILOB services are required to bring a copy of their valid picture identification and health insurance card.

The purpose of the ILOB program is to support services for individuals age 55 or older whose severe visual impairment makes competitive employment difficult to obtain but for whom independent living goals are feasible. The ILOB program is funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration under the U.S. Department of Education.

For more information about the ILOB program, contact OVR at 322-6537/8; TTY: (670) 322-6449; or email: nmidir@ovrgov.net. (OVR)
