‘Over 600 TDHC workers not getting salary for a week now’
Over 600 Tinian Dynasty Hotelz and Casino employees, mostly alien workers, have not received their salary for a week now, Saipan Tribune learned.
A Tinian Dynasty staff, who requested anonymity, expressed disappointment with the delay of their salary occurring again.
“We need our salary to buy food and pay our utility bills,” the staff said, adding that most of them have children who are studying either in the CNMI or in the Philippines.
Saipan Tribune repeatedly contacted yesterday Tinian Dynasty general manager Christopher Bishop for comment, but he was not available.
Another staff said before 2014, they also experienced delay in receiving paychecks up to nine payrolls or equivalent to four months.
The staff disclosed that employees start getting paychecks on time only in July 2014 when the U.S. government filed criminal charges against Hong Kong Entertainment (Overseas) Investments, owner of Tinian Dynasty.
“Here we are again. We heard that our salary will come from Hong Kong, but until now we are waiting,” the worker said.
Several staff also revealed that their human resources director was terminated on Wednesday for unknown reason.
Tinian Dynasty is one of the biggest private employers on Tinian.
Tinian Dynasty has hired three lawyers in its defense in the criminal case that is pending in federal court.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, commonly known as FinCEN, also recently assessed a civil penalty in the amount of $75 million against HKE for “willful and egregious violations of the Bank Secrecy Act.
