Orilla confirmed to NMC board
The Senate confirmed last week the re-appointment of Elaine Hocog Orilla to the Board of Regents for the Northern Marianas College, thereby fulfilling the seven-member board requirement.
According to the college’s website, Juan T. Lizama serves as board chairman; Michaela U. Sanchez is treasurer, while Frank M. Rabauliman, Maria T. Peter, Cynthia I. Deleon Guerrero, and Elizabeth D. Rechebei, Ed. D. are regents.
Orilla received her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Guam and later sought graduate work at the University of San Jose and the University of Hawaii in vocational education and administration.
She was an instructor at the Northern Marianas College Rota campus and was the site coordinator for the Upward Bound program on Rota. She has also worked as a classroom teacher and a school guidance counselor at Rota Elementary and Rota High School before retiring in 2002. Orilla has received several certifications in education and participated in many workshops and trainings during her time as an educator.
The CNMI governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints the Board of Regents. Orilla’s last appointment expired in May 2014.
