A former employee of the Office of the Public Auditor allegedly stole $900 from OPA’s petty cash last year.

The Office of the Attorney General filed an amended information on Tuesday before the Superior Court, charging Violeta Agulto Diaz with one count of theft.

Assistant attorney general Heather P. Barcinas stated in the information that Diaz unlawfully took the money from OPA’s petty cash on Aug. 8, 2016.

No other details were provided in the information.

Saipan Tribune learned that Diaz, 52, used to work as an administrative assistant with OPA. She left OPA last year.

The Superior Court’s clerk of court summoned Diaz to appear in court on Nov. 20, 2017.

If Diaz fails to do so, an application may be made for the issuance of a warrant for her arrest.
