Public auditor Michael Pai said the Office of the Public Auditor has arranged with the firm Deloitte to conduct the year-end audit procedures for the single audit of the CNMI for fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2011.
In a Sept. 29 memo to government branches, agencies, departments and activity heads, public corporations and autonomous agencies, Pai requested full cooperation with the Deloitte audit staff.
“Timely completion of the CNMI’s single audit helps the CNMI in obtaining federal funding,” the public auditor said.
The CNMI’s single audit also incorporates the various agencies’ respective single audits.
“It is therefore imperative that the agencies’ single audits be completed in time for Deloitte to incorporate them in the overall audit of the CNMI. If you have not already done so, please initiate procurement procedures to ensure the completion of your agency’s audit in a timely manner,” the public auditor added.
In 2010, OPA released a CNMI single audit for FY 2009, also conducted by Deloitte & Touche.
That audit report showed that the CNMI general fund’s deficit rose 17.4 percent to $300.8 million from $256.4 million in FY 2008.
