Rangamar said the oval only needs minor repairs since some portions of the track have swelled or are already worn out.
“It will only be some minor repair. Not the entire track needs to be fixed,” said Rangamar.
He added that a Saipan-based club made up of Chuukese would shoulder the cost of the repairs since they will be the ones using the track in November.
The club will be hosting the goodwill games where they will also be inviting teams from Saipan and Guam to compete.
“They usually hold the tournament in February and we’re just going to help them in officiating. The tournament is open to other teams,” Rangamar said.
The longtime Saipan sports official also added that the NMA would be hosting three remaining events in the final quarter of the calendar year.
The NMA will start things off with first leg of the four-part All-Schools X-Country Series at 4pm on Oct. 4 at the Airport Road.
The second part of the NMA and Public School System-organized race will be held on Oct. 18 at 7am at the Susupe Civic Center.
The third and final legs will shift to the American Memorial Park on Oct. 25 and Nov. 15 both at 7am.
On Nov. 27, the NMA will hold the 29th Annual Mt. Tapochao Turkey Trot that will start at Lower Base.
The NMA’s final event for the year is the 32nd Annual Christmas Island Relay on Dec. 29 at 6am that will start at the Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio and end in Marpi. (Jon Perez)
