Oleai, Finasisu split games in boys 13

Oleai and Finasisu split their head-to-head matchup in the boys 13 division of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League last weekend at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.

On Saturday, Oleai routed Finasisu, 58-45, as Raffy Cai exploded for 26 points to lead the team. Jairus Pangelinan’s 16 points paced Finasisu in defeat.

Finasisu, however, got back at Oleai after a good night’s sleep and vanquished their erstwhile conqueror, 50-40, last Sunday in the strength of Pangelinan’s 20 points. Oleai, which played minus Cai, was led by the 16 markers of Theo Joab. 

With both teams splitting their weekend matchups, Oleai and Finasisu are now at 2-3.

The first game of Saturday’s tripleheader saw Tanapag improve to 4-1 in the boys 13 after beating winless Garapan, 52-27.

The last game then saw San Vicente edge Garapan, 37-32, in the women’s division. The former improved to 3-1 while dropping the latter to a 3-2 slate.

Sunday’s other two games had Kagman deal Dandan its first loss in the women’s division following a 37-35 escape act. Both teams are now 3-1.

In the boys 18, Navy Hill also tied Chalan Kita at 2-1 in the standings after nipping their rivals, 41-37.
