Ol’Aces survives Kagman Rollers

Ol’Aces nosed out Kagman Rollers in the first match of the 17U division for the 2021 NMI Rollers Basketball Association Spring Madness last Sunday at the Koblerville Gymnasium.
Ol’Aces eked out a 43-42 win over Kagman Rollers in the first match of the scheduled matches last Saturday.
Craig Padayao powered the Ol’Aces to victory after firing 19 points. Airson Aton also finished in double digits by adding 10 markers.
With Padayao on the reins, the Ol’Aces were able to build a 30-29 lead by the end of the second half. Padayao delivered 11 of his 19 points in the first half with help from Aton who contributed 8 points. Justin Laniyo also added 4 points to bring his team to the lead with help from Spencer Wabol and Matthew Lucas who added 2 markers a piece.
Kagman Rollers proved to be a tough match against Ol’Aces in the second half of the match. Rollers took the lead in the final four minutes of the second half behind Reid Teregeyo’s drive-in layup to bring the team to within 42-41.
However, in the last two minutes of the game, Padayao was able get a hold of the ball and held a strong grip to score the winning basket securing their 43-42 win.
Ol’Aces put up strong defenses in the final moments of the game in order to keep their win.
Rollers’ Darren Pangelinan carried the team with his 12 markers with help from Reid Teregeyo and Jayart Palmes who contributed 11 points apiece.
Ol’Aces 43 – Padayao 19, Aton 10, Laniyo 4, Fiden 3, Kapwich 3, Wabol 2, Lucas 2.
Kagman Rollers 42 – Pangelinan 12, Palmes 11, Teregeyo 11, Mamis 4, Satur 2, Hocog 2.
Scoring by halves: 30-29, 43-42.
