The Ol’Aces made short work of McDonald’s, taking a 17-7 win in five innings in their Majors division game in the 2016 Saipan Little League Baseball last Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

The Ol’Aces earned the victory one inning earlier after pulling away at the top of the fourth. The winning squad hauled nine runs in the pivotal fourth, turning a 6-4 lead to a 15-4 spread. Ohane Borja batted twice and scored a three-run triple in his second at bat after reaching home in the first off a McDonald’s error, while Lufo Babauta also stepped into the plate on two occasions in one inning and scored two RBIs. Ken Kaipat added an RBI single in that run, while the Ol’Aces got the rest off McDonald’s miscues.

Now facing a double-digit deficit, McDonald’s was pressed to collect runs to remain in contention, but mastered only three off LJ. Reyes’ RBI double, Ton Acosta’s RBI single, and Joel Deleon Guerrero’s run from the Ol’Aces’ booboo at the bottom fourth.

At the top of the fifth, the Ol’Aces added two more runs to bring the lead back to double figures with Andrei Macaranas and Latrel Deleon Guerrero making it home off McDonald’s errors.

The scores remained at the bottom of the fifth and the Ol’Aces took the early victory, as Kaipat, who closed out for the winning squad, struck out McDonald’s first three batters.

Borja and Babauta led the Ol’Aces win, as the former went 4-for-4 at bat with four RBIs and the latter hit 3-for-4 and recorded three RBIs. Babauta had an RBI single in the first inning to lift the Ol’Aces to a 4-0 advantage. Nathan Aizon had the same feat for the Ol’Aces’ second run, while Macaranas blasted an RBI triple, and Babauta reached off a McDonald’s miscue.

Meanwhile, Best Sunshine International turned in the $800 donation to the As Matuis Twins in support of the team’s participation in the SLLB this season.

BSI corporate social responsibility directors Rita Chong and Geri Dela Cruz handed the ceremonial check to Twins manager Chel Castro and official Valerie Marquez. The two Twins representatives thanked BSI for its big help in ensuring that kids will have the opportunity to play in SLLB.
