The fall season of the M-League will welcome a new team in Okadaya.
Okadaya, which will compete in Division A, will be bannered by the core of the Shirley’s Football Club-1that topped Division B of M-League’s spring season. The squad is led by captain Shunsuke Katagiri and Okadaya’s jersey is sponsored by Livin’ Color, a printing company located in San Antonio. Livin’ Color president Kosuke Tomokiyo and vice president Masao Takakura presented the jerseys to Okadaya players after a scrimmage against other M-League teams at the Koblerville Elementary School Field last Sunday.
“Okadaya (restaurant) owners are close to our hearts that’s why we decided to support them in their participation in the M-League. I am also a fan of football and would like to help teams playing the sport here,” Tomokiyo said.
“We wish the team all the best as they go out on the pitch and compete. I hope they enjoy playing with each other and challenging other good teams in the M-League,” Takakura added.
Katagiri, who were joined in the Sunday presentation by teammates Panapa Peteru, Don Cabrera, and Kevin McCale, thanked Livin’ Color and Okadaya for supporting them.
“We appreciate their assistance to our team and we hope they will continue to support us. We will do out very best in every game this season,” Katagiri said.
Meanwhile, besides Okadaya, other teams that have already confirmed their participation in Division A are TanHoldings, Sun Palace, Paire, and Kanoa. In Division B, the confirmed teams are Shirley’s FC, Matansa, and Korean Football Association on Saipan. Organizers are still waiting for the final decision of MP United, the CNMI Women’s National Team, the CNMI Boys U16 National Team, and the CNMI Boys 13 to 14 National Pool.
League officials and representatives of the participating teams met last Sunday to discuss details of the opening of the fall season, which is likely to kick off this month.
