OIA OKs $777,000 for CUC power plants

The Office of Insular Affairs has authorized the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to develop a waste management plan for power plants 1 and 2 in Lower Base in the amount of $777,000.

Special assistant attorney general Teresita J. Sablan informed the U.S. District Court for the NMI last week about OIA’s authorization last March 17.

OIA grants management specialist Keith W. Aughenbaugh informed CUC acting executive director Gary Camacho that OIA has reviewed the memorandum for the waste plan and found it in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Council on Environmental Quality Regulations, and Department of Interior NEPA Regulations, and Draft Departmental Manual.

Sablan also disclosed that the ATP’s for Environmental Protection Agency and the Engineering and Environmental Management Company management ($204,000) and Tank 103 Repairs ($4,019,000) are forthcoming.
