Oh My J keeps streak

Oh My J cruised to its fourth consecutive win after beating Kidlat, 61-50, in their rescheduled game in the 2015 Blue Haus/IT&E Inter-Color Basketball League last Monday night at the Navy Hill court.

Team captain Junar Guiab led Oh My J anew, scoring a game-high 22 points. He drew a lot of support from his teammates, as five other Oh My J players nailed at least two baskets apiece to lift the team to the 11-point win.

Oh My J improved its record to 4-1 for a tie for first place with Makalaro Lang and Wag Kang Pabebe, pending the results of the latter’s game against Red Rice last night. Kidlat continued to slide down the team standings with its 1-4 mark.

The Kidlat-Oh My J tiff was originally set for last Sunday, but was rescheduled the following day due to rain. When the match finally took off, Guiab got his offensive game going early, as he knocked in 4 of Oh My J’s first 6 markers and then followed it up with 8 straight points after Nate Mateo drilled his first basket in the game.

With Guiab finishing the first half with 12 points, Oh My J registered a 26-22 halftime lead. Kidlat stayed in the match despite Guiab’s good start behind the 9 points of White Capalad, who tried to step in for Manolo Manalo. Manalo failed to play for Kidlat for the second straight game.

Guiab kept going in the second half, adding 10 more points, but the last 20 minutes of play belonged to Mateo, who buried three triples after being held to two field goals in the first half. Mateo’s hot shooting and Guiab’s leadership coupled with a few more baskets from the team’s role players helped Oh My J secured the double-digit winning margin in the end.

Meanwhile, the skidding Pasion De Amor hopes to get back on track as it faces Makalaro Lang in the lone game today at 5:30pm. Pasion De Amor had a 2-0 start in the nine-team league, but dropped its next two games before leading Eh Di Wow, 65-63, in their rain-halted match last Friday. Makalaro Lang also had an early winning streak, going 3-0 before splitting its succeeding two games to settle for a three-way tie for the lead.
