The Marine Corps Aviation Association named CNMI Staff Sgt. Juan Ogumoro the Avionics Marine of the Year during the 45th Annual MCAA Symposium/Marine Aviation Summit last month in New Bern, North Carolina. The event was held from May 16 to 21.
Ogumoro received the Paul G. Vess Professional Achievement Award, which was established in honor of the former Master Gunnery Sergeant who served with distinction for over 30 years for the most outstanding contribution by an electronics technician.
MCAA recognized Ogumoro’s professional achievement in performing his duties as flight control/electrical/instrument system work center staff non-commissioned officer-in-charge of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39.
“During this period, SSgt. Ogumoro performed his duties in a highly professional manner and distinguished himself as the most valuable avionics Marine. His tireless work ethic and brilliant technical knowledge in the avionics field have set the standard for all to emulate,” said MCAA.
“His flawless management of flight control, electrical, and instrument systems enhanced the proficiency of the avionics Marines and the readiness of the flying squadrons.”
MCAA added that Ogumoro used his technical skills, expertise, and awareness of highly capable maintenance interdiction of AH-1W turret control assemblies saving the Marine Aircraft Group 39 of repair costs amounting to $592,758 last year.
MCAA said Ogumoro’s abilities, initiative, and loyalty to duty “reflect credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.”
