The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture board has two new members.
Acting governor Eloy S. Inos appointed Viviana W. Odoshi and Mark O. Rabauliman, both of whom will be representing the Carolinian community on Saipan.
Odoshi, a former legal secretary at the Attorney General’s Office who retired last year, will serve the unexpired term of Vivian P. Nogis which expires on March 4, 2014.
Rabauliman, who works at the Department of Commerce, will serve until Sept. 14, 2014.
“The governor and I have been informed of the important work before the council and have every confidence that you will consistently devote your time and efforts to represent the interest of our community,” Inos said in his separate appointment letters to Odoshi and Rabauliman dated March 6.
Odoshi and Rabauliman’s appointment to the Arts Council board do not require the advice and consent of the Senate. They are, however, required to file a Statement of Financial Interest with the Public Auditor.
Odoshi, who makes mwar-mwar and beads for family members, said she has been involved with the Arts Council during the 25th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival but this will be her first time to work on the council’s board.
“Arts and culture have always had a soft place in my heart,” Odoshi told Saipan Tribune. “I’m glad about my appointment and I hope I could be of assistance to the board.”
Other Arts Council members are Joseph Diaz, Ana Teregeyo, Esther Sound, and Frank Norita.
