The Oceania Athletics Association is inviting its member federations to take part in an International Association of Athletics Federations Coaches Education and Certification System Middle Long Distance Level II course.

OAA regional development manager Regan Kama sent out the invitation in behalf of executive director Yvonne Mullins. The coaching course is set from Sept. 23 to 30 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Kama said member federations must submit the nomination of their candidate on or before Sept. 1. “The [OAA] takes this opportunity to invite your federation to nominate a candidate for the IAAF to approve to attend the CECS [Level II MLD] course.”

“Those attending the course will be arriving in Gold Coast on the night of Sept. 22 and will leave in the morning of Oct. 1. A course dinner will be conducted on Sept. 30 for all participants.”

Northern Marianas Athletics president Ramon A. Tebuteb is encouraging all coaches, specially those in schools, to inform them if they are interested.

“This is what we need, the basic course to be offered in our part of the region where school coaches can expand in certain areas,” Tebuteb said.

The course is open to coaches who already completed a minimum IAAF CECS Level II and have at least one year of active coaching certified by the member federation. It will give the coaches the chance to specialize in one of the event’s specific groups.

It will also introduce coaches to specific planning and reviewing of their coaching skills that are needed in focusing to coach middle and long distance runners in their respective events. Developing intermediate coaching skills and knowledge is the course’s goal.
