Safety plays an important role in protecting individuals and the community from vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccine quality is the shared responsibility of everyone, from the time vaccine is manufactured until it is administered and this is where proper storage and handling plays a huge role.

Marianas Health Home Care is dedicated to providing quality and experienced health care solutions throughout the Pacific region.

Employees of Marianas Health Home Care, in cooperation with the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Division of Public Health, went through an immunization program training last Feb. 23, 2017.

Jeffrey Sablan and Arvin Deleon Guerrero from the CHCC DPH Immunization Program, together with Jeremy Sasamoto, immunization program manager, and Peter Judicpa, regional public health adviser of immunization at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, spearheaded the training with the Marianas Health Home Care staff learning about “vaccination storage.”

Lectures about proper storage and transporting of vaccines through a process called “cold chain,” together with a hands-on training on the equipment that was provided by the guest speakers and tips on incorporating the vaccination process in scheduled home visits were given out during the event.

The training would enable Marianas Health to keep homebound patients up-to-date with their immunization shots. It would also help carry out Marianas Health’s initial vision and mission together with the community and the patient’s health care needs to improve the quality of life, and the quality of healthcare services in the CNMI.
