The Saipan Young Professionals committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the CNMI Small Business Development Center under the Department of Commerce to celebrate Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25.
The event was started by American Express in 2010, and is celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and occurs this year on Nov. 25. The members of the Saipan Young Professionals and the CNMI SBDC would be highlighting small businesses in the island community.
Small Business Saturday is one day each year that is specifically set aside to support small businesses across the United States.
The goal is to remind everyone that each purchase plays a key role in helping small businesses and encourages everyone to get out and shop and dine at local establishments.
“We celebrate the small businesses that make our island community unique. We encourage you to shop and dine at your favorite local locations. Come out to join Small Business Saturday with us,” said Commerce Secretary Mark O. Rabauliman.
SYP chair Beau Tomokane is challenging SYP members and all members of the community to Shop Small, to snap a picture, and to share it using #ShopSmall and #SYP to celebrate and show support for small businesses.
A limited number of promotional items have been received at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce office on the third floor of Marianas Business Plaza and will be distributed first to member businesses who have generously supported the Saipan Young Professionals program. Additional items will be available to any small business by visiting the Chamber office (while supplies last). Show your love for #SHOPSMALL.
The SYP, an official committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, is a group of young professionals. If you are interested in joining the SYP committee or for more information, contact (670) 234-7150 or email administrator@saipanchamber.com. (PR)
