Norman Tenorio named Executive of the Year

TUMON, Guam—Norman T. Tenorio, managing director of Joeten Enterprises Inc. and president and CEO of Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc. on Saipan, was named the 2014 Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year at the 32nd annual Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year award gala held Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Guam.

The annual Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year gala is a fundraising event for the Guam chapter of the American Red Cross. This year’s event drew approximately 400 people.

A native of Saipan, Tenorio started his working career at the mom-and-pop store that would expand to become Joeten Enterprises, a business his parents, Jose C. “Joeten” and Soledad “DaiDai” Tenorio, started in 1949. The company is now a conglomerate that includes Joeten Motors Co.; J.C. Tenorio Enterprise grocery market, department store and restaurants; Joeten Ace Hardware; the Joeten Superstore wholesale club; Marianas Management Corp.; Construction Material & Supply Inc.; Joeten Wholesale; and franchises for The Athlete’s Foot and Napa Auto Parts.

Tenorio is also president of Tropical Instant Press Inc.; secretary/treasurer of Saipan Shipping Co.; president of Saipan Stevedore; president of Advance Carrier and is on the boards of directors for Guahan Insurance Services and Nanbo Guam Ltd., which does business as Nanbo Insurance. He is a trustee of the Joeten DaiDai Foundation and also makes charitable contributions to various sports events, the Marianas Islands Nature Alliance, and the American Red Cross, among other organizations.

Tenorio is featured in portraiture on the cover of the Guam Business Magazine January-February issue, which was released at the gala.

Tenorio, 63, was this year’s only nominee from the Northern Mariana Islands, joining nine others from Guam: Gener F. Deliquina, CEO of Coast360 Federal Credit Union; James S.
