Norita, who also plays baseball and softball, finished the back nine with a 2-over 38 and the front with a 3-over 39 for a 77 total at Marpi’s par-72 golf facility.

With an eight handicap, he ended up with a 3-under 69 for a two-stroke win over Carl Hocog’s 1-under 71.

Hocog had rounds of 44 and 39 for an 83 and his 12 handicap gave him that 71, while the 16-handicapper Marco Peter came in third with an even-par 72 (47-41, 88).

Louie Tilipao, who clinched the MGA September Ace when the monthly tournament was held at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s east course last Oct. 3, led the closest to the pin winners.

Tilipao, who was a member of the CNMI men’s golf team in this year’s XV Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, achieved it in hole No. 6, while Chandler DeLoatch, Mart Naputi, and Calvin Yamagishi duplicated the feat in the par-3 holes No. 8, 12, and 16, respectively.

Norita is assured of a spot on MGA’s yearend tomorrow as he joins early qualifiers Harry Nakamura (January), Yamagishi (February), Jess Seman (March), Naputi (April), Jenny Hegland (May), DeLoatch (June), Jay Muna (July), MGA secretary Geri Dela Cruz (August), and Tilipao (September).

MGA members continue with their hunt for the two remaining slots—November and December—with the November Ace on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Laolao Bay’s east course. Show time is at 8am and tee off starts an hour after.

J.J. Atalig is the MGA president with Joey Dela Cruz (vice president), Geri Dela Cruz (secretary), James Benavente (treasurer), Jerry Ayuyu (handicap chairman), and DeLoatch (tournament director) as the other officers.

MGA was a bit behind with their monthly tournaments after Typhoon Soudelor caused damage on the four golf courses on Saipan—Coral Ocean Golf Resort, Kingfisher Golflinks, LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort, and Mariana Country Club.
