Northern Marianas Sports Association president Michael White is inviting member federations to nominate their respective candidates for the 2018 International University Sports Federation (Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire, FISU) Volunteer Leaders Academy.

The FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy is an international educational program that will be held from June 14 to 22 in Kazan, Russia.

White said that member federations may nominate their candidates and NMSA must receive the nomination on or before Feb. 16.

“Nominations must be received by NMSA by the close of business on Friday, Feb. 16. The board will meet to decide whether or not to nominate a candidate to FISU,” White said in an email to all NMSA member federations.

A letter from the federation endorsing the nominee, a copy of the nominee’s resume that shows compliance with the selection criteria, particularly with previous volunteer experience, and a copy of the business page of the nominee’s passport must be included in the nomination.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for one of our up-and-coming young people. I look forward to receiving your nominations,” added White.

FISU president Oleg Matytsin, in the invitation sent to NMSA, said their Ambassadors program would be the main focus of the second edition of the Volunteer Leaders Academy.

“The FISU Ambassadors program is one of the most ambitious and promising FISU special projects. It aims to increase participation and involvement of the general public in FISU activities and events, and promote the values of sports and healthy lifestyle through activities by a group of Ambassadors appointed by FISU.”

He added that while FISU Ambassadors are meant to be famous athletes and celebrities, they also plan to select FISU Student Ambassadors among active and talented students in FISU member countries.

FISU Ambassadors will meet with students and share their success stories.
