No probable cause found to charge Lizama with failure to update info
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho has found no probable cause to charge a registered sex offender for failing to update his information with the Sex Offender Registry Unit.
At a preliminary hearing in the case against Alvin P. Lizama last week, Camacho determined that there is no probable cause to believe that crimes were committed
The charges against the 34-year-old Lizama were later dismissed. That means the government may re-file the case in the future.
Assistant attorney general Jonathan Glass Jr. called to the witness stand the officer in charge of the case.
Assistant public defender Nancy Dominski served as counsel for Lizama.
According to police, Lizama failed to notify the Sex Offender Registry Unit when he left Tinian to come to Saipan.
Lizama, however, explained that he did not notify Tinian and Saipan Sex Offender Registry Units because he was not planning to stay on Saipan. He said, he however, found a job on Saipan.
Lizama pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree in 2013. He served prison term and was granted parole and subsequently released on Dec. 15, 2014, according to court records.
