The Northern Marianas International School has successfully defended their title in the caroling competition Middle School Division and went home with the most number of awards during the awards night of the 15th Annual Christmas in the Marianas at the Paseo de Marianas last Saturday. The elementary students also won sixth place for the same contest.
NMIS’ entry for the Christmas tree placed second out of 17 private and public schools on Saipan. Ornaments were made from old Christmas balls and used CDs. Their theme was “Merry Christmas Marianas and Be Drug Free.” This is the third time since NMIS joined the competition to win a major price; they grabbed second place in 2014, first place in 2015, and second place this year.
This year also marked the first time for the school to win second place in the Christmas float competition. NMIS’ float was themed “Misa de Gallo” and the design was a church made from the used water bottles, CDs and food containers.
This is the second year for NMIS to win major awards at this event. The whole community of NMIS would like to thank the teachers, staff, students, and parents for their untiring support. Proceeds will be used for the improvement of the school and students’ competition.
