Northern Marianas International School and the Public School System Early Head Start will officially open on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016. A total of 16 children were selected coming from low-income families on Saipan.

The Partnership Agreement between the CNMI Public School System Early Head Start and Northern Marianas International School was signed last April 15, 2016 held at NMIS lobby. It was attended by the high ranking officials of PSS headed by then Education commissioner Dr. Rita Sablan and the associates, PSS board chair Herman T. Guerrero, DCCA Secretary Robert Hunter, CCDF Program administrator Maribel Loste, and NMIS board of directors headed by the school president Erick Van Der Maas and witnessed by the students, teachers, staff, and administrators.

NMIS is the only private school in the CNMI granted this historic partnership. “We would like to thank the CNMI Public School System most especially the Early Head Start Team for the opportunity to be part of this historic event,” said vice principal Jener A. Pineda. “NMIS is very committed in providing high quality child care services to the community.”

The Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships are intended to increase access to coordinated comprehensive services for low-income children and families. It also increases the capacity of child care providers serving low income families with infants and toddlers, and fosters strong partnerships that in turn can strengthen the local early childhood system and services.

There was a parent orientation scheduled last night at the NMIS-Early Head Start facility, while today, Sept. 23, is set for the transition period. (PR)
