NMIFA holds tryout for U14 training pool
Northern Mariana Islands Football Association will be holding a tryout for the CNMI U14 national training pool on June 16 at the Koblerville Elementary School Field.
The tryout will run from 4pm to 5:30pm and is open to players from all clubs, born between 2001 and 2002. Players selected for the training pool will then have a chance to represent the CNMI to the AFC U14 Regional Festival of Football 2015 (East Region), which will take place in Beijing, China from Sept. 7 to 14.
According to NMIFA coaching staff Jersh Angeles, they will need additional players for the pool, which is usually composed of 23 to 30 individuals. Players on the CNMI U16 squad may still join the pool as they are still eligible for the U14 festival. The final cut for the team going to Beijing will be made in July, as the initial roster for the tournament must be submitted months before the competition starts.
The schedule of the Asian Football Confederation-sanctioned event has yet to be released, but the CNMI maybe be joined in the eight-team contest by teams from the host country, Guam, South Korea, North Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Chinese-Taipei, and Mongolia.

3v3 tournament
In related news, the NMIFA Men’s Committee will be hosting a 3v3 tournament this Saturday at the Navy Hill Ballfield.
Registration will run from 8am to 9am, followed by the round-robin plays in the morning and elimination round games in the afternoon. Only players in the 18-and over age group are allowed to compete.
