NMI employers’ input on workforce needs sought
The CNMI Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Agency and the CNMI State Workforce Development Board are working with Max Impacts: Maxine Laszlo Consulting to seek CNMI private sector employers’ input via a Business Needs Assessment survey.
The purpose of this survey is to better understand businesses and nonprofits’ current and projected employment needs so that WIA and the SWDB can best support the training, employment, and retention of employees in the CNMI.
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Participation in the survey is voluntary and anonymous; survey responses will not be traced back to the survey taker or their employer and will strictly be used for aggregate reporting purposes. The survey can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/2021WIAsurvey.
“As the CNMI moves forward with the revival of our tourism industry, we must ensure our decisions are rooted in present workforce data,” said Labor Secretary Vicky Benavente. “Through this partnership between the CNMI Department of Labor’s WIA Division and the CNMI SWDB, we can understand the current needs of our employers and adequately equip our job seekers as we restart the economy.”
“The Business Needs Assessment will provide the insight needed to determine which training programs we should prioritize,” said SWDB chair Josephine Mesta. “We must be good stewards of the federal resources on behalf of our job seekers, and to do that, we have to invest in the types of training programs that will help them stay employed and provide for their families in this next chapter of the CNMI’s labor market.”
Employers are asked to complete the survey no later than Friday, Aug. 27, 2021. Employers who complete the survey will be entered in a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice (2 drawings for Saipan, 1 for Rota, and 1 for Tinian).
