NMC’s Walsh featured in literary magazine
Adam Walsh, an assistant professor for the Northern Marianas College’s Language and Humanities department, recently had his poem chosen as the “Editor’s Choice” in the Sunspot Literary Journal.
Walsh published [la boda la muerte mi vida] in the journal, which is produced by Sun Dog Creations in Durham, North Carolina. The journal releases a digital version of their magazine every quarter, and a printed edition every year.
This poem is the first in a manuscript titled hollow songs that Walsh has published several poems from in various literary journals such as the Hawaii Review, The Journal, Istanbul Review, Crab Creek Review, Barrow Street, Shark Reef, The Lummox Journal, and Trestle Creek Review.
[la boda la muerte mi vida] or “the marriage the death my life” is inspired by a lost love, an engagement and subsequent breakup, and Walsh coming to grips with such a loss through his craft: poetry.
According to Walsh, the feedback he received from the University of Guam Press helped him shape his poem. He encourages individuals who are interested in his work or this project to take a look at the Sunspot Literary Journal or links of other poems online and in print through his website at walshwork.com.
