NMC’s Cash for College on Saipan tomorrow
Students on Rota recently attended Northern Marianas College’s Cash for College workshop where they received help in finding money for college. The next Cash for College workshops will be held on Saipan on January 26 and Tinian on February 12, 2019. Northern Marianas College is reminding interested students and members of the community about the free “Cash for College” workshop happening tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at the As Terlaje Campus between Buildings N and O. The workshop will be an ongoing session, so participants can stop by anytime between 9am and before the end of the workshop at 12 pm.
Participants of the workshop will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms like the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and application forms for CNMI Scholarship and Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance (SHEFA) program.
Staff members from the College’s Office of Admissions and Records will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC application process. In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming Spring 2019 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.
In addition, the College noted that the CNMI Scholarship Office and SHEFA program extended their application deadlines for Northern Marianas College students.
The new deadlines for CNMI Scholarship and SHEFA are:
• CNMI Scholarship Application: March 1, 2019
• CNMI Scholarship Supporting Documents: April 15, 2019
• SHEFA Application Deadline: Feb. 1, 2019
• SHEFA Supporting Documents: April 12, 2019
Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid U.S. passport, copy of valid application for a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or green card), an official transcript from high school (at least three official copies), Copy of 2017 and 2018 1040, Copy of 2017 and 2018 W-2 (if not filing), and proof of CNMI residency, including proof of continuing residency.
