NMC to host student talent showcase
There are still spots left for Northern Marianas College students who want to exhibit their talents at the NMC Student Showcase at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe on April 17.
According to Alexis Cabrera, Student Leadership coordinator of NMC, they intend to showcase student art (painting, sketches, crafts, sculptures, eco-art, cultural, etc.), photography, dance, spoken word poetry, musical performances, stand-up comedy, short films and/or digital media, and more.
Cabrera noted that this will be the first time since her appointment as student leadership coordinator that NMC will be hosting a student showcase.
So far, only three students have signed up and, since it is a four-hour event, there is no limit to how many spots will be made available.
Cabrera encourages all students to join and showcase their talents and, because she knows there are many shy students who don’t want to put their names out there, Cabrera will accept anyone who wants to remain anonymous.
After a trip to an NMC art class that were on display at the back of the temporary classroom, Cabrera was inspired to introduce a student-only talent showcase. She recalls being blown away by the stunning art that was made out of natural resources that sat at the back of the tent classes. Unfortunately, none of art could be salvaged since they were attracting insects that could potentially damage the classroom. (Justin Nauta)
