Northern Marianas College recently received national recognition for some of the outreach activities undertaken by the institution’s marketing office.

The recognition, awarded for 2018, came from the District Six region of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR), which represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. The organization has more than 1,700 members from nearly 650 colleges across the United States and Canada.

District 6 includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the CNMI, FSM, Palau, Marshall Islands, and Guam.

NMC bested other colleges to win 2018 Medallion Awards in various categories including gold, silver, and bronze medallion awards in poster graphic design; bronze in postcard graphic design; and another bronze in print advertisement graphic design.

The Medallion Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in design and communication from its current members in the organization. The regional competition is exclusive to two-year colleges and evaluates a variety of products such as videos, social media, posters, postcards, print advertisements, website design, and many more.

“This is a great honor for NMC, especially since we are up against many colleges that significantly have more resources,” said Frankie Eliptico, NMC interim president and former marketing director.

The medallion awards were presented at an annual District Six conference held in Arizona. However, representatives from NMC were unable to attend in person so the awards were sent via mail.

“A lot of the art work that we eventually use for our marketing activities are created by student interns, and they deserve much of the credit,” added Eliptico.

NMC has won medallion awards for its video and graphic design in past years.

Competing colleges choose its best advertisements for submission and are judged against hundreds of institutions.

The College’s Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) leads all marketing and communications efforts for the College. The mission of OIA is to implement a strategic and integral communications effort that is committed to helping to Northern Marianas College as the premier provider of higher education and training opportunities in the Pacific.
