The Northern Marianas College’s Board of Regents will evaluate college president Dr. Sharon Hart in a special board meeting today.

According to the college, the sole item on the meeting’s agenda will be the president’s evaluation. Hart has been with the college since 2011. Her contract was renewed for two years in May last year.

During her leadership, the college was accreditation for six-years under WASC Senior College and University Commission in July this year. The college has also begun its second bachelor’s program, with a business management program opening this fall semester.

Hart was given a no-confidence vote by the NMC Faculty Senate in 2012, but the board later invalidated the vote due to a lack of quorum.

Hart has 11 years of experience leading other community colleges and has served as president at Middlesex Community College, CT, and North Dakota State College of Science. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois.

The board is expected to enter into an executive session for most of the meeting’s duration, according to the college.
