The Northern Marianas College is reminding students and members of the community about the free “Cash for College” workshop that will be held this Saturday, June 21, 2014. The event aims to assist students and their parents maximize scholarship opportunities that are available to students seeking to obtain a college education.

The free workshop will be held in Building A at the NMC As Terlaje campus. The workshop will be an ongoing session, so participants can stop by anytime between 9am and 3pm.

At the workshops, participants will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, CNMI Scholarship, Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance, and the TEACH Grant. Workshop participants can also have their financial aid documents notarized and photocopied, all without any charges or fees.

Staff members from the college’s Office of Admissions and Records will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC admission application process.

In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming fall 2015 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.

Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid passport, birth certificate, or green card), three official transcripts, signed 2013 1040 tax form (2013 W-2 statements if you and/or your parents did not or will not file taxes), and/or proof of CNMI residency for 2012 and 2013 (for example, CNMI 1040 tax form, employment verification from your employer, official transcripts, voters certification, etc.).
