NMC English and Math placement test schedule
The Northern Marianas College will be conducting English and math placement tests on the following dates:
– Dec. 15, 16, 19, 24, 31: 9am
– Dec. 22, 23, 29, 30 and Jan. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9: 9am and 2pm
– Dec. 26 and Jan. 2: 1pm
Those who wish to take courses at NMC must take the placement tests. The deadline to apply for admission for NMC’s spring 2015 semester is Jan. 16, 2015.
Before taking a placement test, individuals must first fill out a Placement Request Form at the Office of Admissions and Records (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm) and pay the $25 fee for each placement test at the NMC Cashier (Monday to Friday,8:30am to 4pm). Payment for the admission application fee will cover the English placement test fee. Students will not be allowed to take the placement tests without their processed Placement Request Form and a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport or school ID).
Those planning on taking the placement test are highly encouraged to make seating arrangements prior to the test date by contacting Isabel Matsunaga at the Testing Center in Building I at 234-5498 Ext. 6774 or by emailing isabel.matsunaga@marianas.edu.
Note that English placement test is a computer-based and tests on Listening, Reading and Grammar, and the final part of the test requires an essay on a provided topic.
The math placement test is also computer-based; pencils and scratch paper are provided at the Testing Center if test takers need to write some calculations out when answering questions. Also, the use of approved types of calculators is allowed during the math placement test (contact the Testing Center to find out if your calculator may be used).
