Northern Marianas College is reminding interested students and members of the community about the upcoming Cash for College workshops that will happen this week on Rota and Saipan.

The Cash for College workshop on Rota will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, from 9am to 12pm at the NMC Rota Campus in building A-1.

The workshop on Saipan will be held this Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at the NMC As Terlaje campus between buildings N and O from 9am to 12pm

Participants of the workshop will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, municipal scholarships (like the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance), and the CNMI Scholarship.

Staff members from the college’s Office of Admissions and Records will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC application process. In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming spring 2020 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.

Parents or guardians interested in attending the Cash for College workshop on Saipan can also bring their children to the Children’s Center at NMC’s Building J in room J16. This free service provided by NMC’s School of Education will be ongoing throughout the event. Parents that utilize the Children’s Center must sign a liability form.

Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid U.S. passport, copy of valid application for a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or green card), an official transcript from high school (at least three official copies), their high school diploma, a copy of 2017 and 2018 1040, copy of 2017 and 2018 W-2 (if not filing), and proof of CNMI residency, including proof of continuing residency. Applicants for SHEFA should bring a valid U.S. passport or a voter registration card.

For additional information, contact the NMC Financial Aid Office at 237-6792 or email fao@marianas.edu. (NMC)
