The Northern Marianas College Board of Regents retained the current leadership setup after an election of officers yesterday.

Juan T. Lizama was re-elected by acclamation as board chairman for another year.

Elaine Hocog-Orilla retained her vice chair post while Frank Rabauliman remains treasurer.

In their individual messages yesterday, members emphasized the importance of “continuity in leadership” at the institution, especially in this time of accreditation challenges. NMC remains on continued show-cause status after it failed to resolve all deficiencies previously cited by the accreditation commission. Its fate will be know after the January 2013 commission assembly.

According to regent William Torres, yesterday’s election was historic as this was the first time the board retained the leadership setup.

The board also welcomed interim Associated Students of NMC president Keolester Buenpacifico, who replaced Lawrence Camacho, whose term recently expired.
