NMC AA grads can now transfer credits to HPU

The Northern Marianas College and Hawaii Pacific University signed last month an agreement that enables NMC students who transfer to HPU to carry with them the credit they have already earned for as much relevant study possible.

The agreement is only applicable to students transferring from NMC to HPU, and will allow NMC students who have completed an associate of arts degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to be accepted as fulfilling all general education requirements at HPU.

“We are glad that the Northern Marianas College continues to build and continue strong partnerships with regional institutions that will ultimately benefit our students,” NMC president Dr. Sharon Hart said in a statement. “This agreement with Hawaii Pacific University recognizes and acknowledges the strong educational background that NMC transfer students bring with them when they transition to larger universities after graduating from NMC.”

She said NMC would continue to forge similar partnerships with other institutions to expand the opportunities available to CNMI students.
