NMBA to start youth summer clinic next month
Northern Marianas Badminton Association will be holding the 2012 Youth Badminton Summer Clinic next month at the NMBA Gym at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.
“We are encouraging parents to bring their children at the NMBA to learn the basics of badminton. Joining our clinic is one way of keeping your children active during school vacation,” NMBA official Merlie Tolentino said. “Every summer, NMBA sees to it that we have something to offer our youth to help them stay healthy and active through sports.
The clinic will be divided into four sessions. The first session will run from July 2 to 6. The remaining schedules are from July 9 to 12, July 16 to 20, and July 23 to 27. Participants will receive certificates upon completion of the any of the five-day session. while the clinic will culminate with a tournament set for July 18 from 8am to 12pm.
The clinic will have two morning sessions with the 8am to 10am schedule allotted to participants in the 7 to 10 age group and the 10am to 12pm time to 11 to 18 division.
NMBA official Macoi Aguda will head the pool of coaches who will conduct the month-long clinic. Joining him are IT&E back-to-back men’s singles A champion Andreau Galvez, men’s B winner Jexler Caranto, Sam Jones, and Luis Camacho.
Registration fee is only $10 and there will be $5 discount for families who will register at least three members. Equipment and drinking water will be provided at the venue, but participants are requested to bring their own bottle/cup.
