An English-education program produced by Japan’s largest broadcast organization and filmed on Saipan and Tinian premieres in April 2015. The show features Japan actress Yuka Nomura and local talent.

The 5-minute program, Otona-no Kiso Eigo. (Basic English for Adults), by NHK Educational will air Monday through Thursday over three months to an estimated 2.6-million viewers across Japan. Through this mini-drama series, NHK will also introduce the natural beauty of the Northern Marianas and activities that tourists can enjoy.

“The estimated exposure value from this NHK series is estimated at over $3 million, due to the large audience NHK reaches,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “This show will be an important reminder of our destination to Japanese viewers throughout the three month viewing period.”

Sites to be featured include Managaha, Mariana Resort & Spa, Mt. Tapochau, Forbidden Island, Kalabera Cave, Tank Beach, Paupau Beach, House of Taga, Garapan Street Market, Sabalu Market, Joeten Hafadai Shopping Center, I Love Saipan, ABC Store, Francisco C. Ada Saipan International Airport, and local residences.

The program will run through June 30, 2015. (MVA)
