WIA closed on Sept. 9-11
The CNMI Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Agency would like to inform the public, partners, and participants that WIA will be closed for annual federal reporting and system updates from today, Sept. 9, through Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. WIA thanks the community for its patience and understanding. (PR)
Military training in Guam, FDM
SANTA RITA, Guam—Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will conduct training on Sept. 9-12, from 11am to 11:55pm at the Dandan-Malojloj training sight in Inarajan.
HSC-25 will conduct joint training with the 644th Combat Communications Squadron from midnight to noon on Sept. 9-16 in Radio Barrigada.
HSC-25 will also conduct training from 6:30pm to 11:55pm on Sept. 11 in Radio Barrigada.
HSC-25 will conduct training from 7pm to 11pm on Sept. 9 in Agat Bay.
These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed, if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. The public should be advised that routine helicopter training, often accompanied with the use of blanks, can occur during these trainings.
It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
The U.S. Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times:
• From 10:30am to 5pm, Sept. 9
• From 10:30am to 2:30pm, Sept. 10
• From 10:30am to 5pm, Sept. 11
• From 10:30am to 2:30pm, Sept. 12
• From 10:30am to 2:30pm, Sept. 13
This training supports aircrew combat readiness and is critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific. (PR)
More Guam tax refunds out
HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Today, the Department of Revenue & Taxation and the Department of Administration will mail 693 tax refund checks totaling approximately $1.8 million, including refunds garnished to repay government debts, for error-free returns filed on or before Feb. 20, 2019. Power interruption today
There will be a scheduled power interruption today, from 9am to 1pm. This sectionalized outage on Kiya 3 will affect China Town (Commonwealth Drive, Nimitz Ln., Linao Ln., Legislature Ln., World War II Ln., Congress Ln., Uruwow Ln., Secretary Ln., Komiti Av., Matsue St., partials of Husga Av., Saina Pl., Freedom Drive, Justice Pl., Convention Pl., Politic Ln., Covenant Ln., and Village Ln). The As Falape water well service area will also be affected but no wastewater service areas.
This will allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. linemen to replace a rotted primary power pole and re-sag low primary lines in the China Town.
