‘Help keep bus shelters clean’

Rotary Club of Saipan president and McDonald’s Saipan co-owner Marcia Ayuyu is raising concerns about the amount of litter in bus shelters.

She told Saipan Tribune last Saturday that there was a noticeable amount of trash at the designated Rotary Club and McDonald’s Saipan bus shelters during their scheduled cleanup.

Ayuyu, who co-owns McDonald’s Saipan and Guam and whose company sponsors some of the bus stop shelters, noted that one of such bus shelters on Saipan was found with a lot of trash, most of them empty beer cans.

She pointed out that bus shelters are meant for children and are not there for adults to drink and leave their mess behind.

The Rotary Club was supposed to paint a bus shelter on Middle Road last Saturday but it got rained out. A combination of Rotary Club and the Marianas High School Interact Club, the high school iteration of the Rotary Club, were present as they prepared the bus shelter for the next time the club will clean the area.
