Guam’s tax filing season set to begin Feb. 12
Barrigada, Guam—The Guam Department of Revenue & Taxation announced yesterday that the 2021 income tax filing season is scheduled to begin on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021. This is the date that DRT will begin accepting 2020 tax year returns and is in line with the date that the Internal Revenue Service will also begin the nation’s tax season.
This filing season certain taxpayers will have the option to receive their refunds by direct deposit. DRT worked with the Department of Administration to launch direct deposits of refunds for the first time in the last week.
DRT encourages taxpayers to file their Forms 1040 online.

Military trainings in Guam
ASAN, Guam—Military units will continue to conduct exercises in open ocean at the following coordinates: 13˚48’’N/144˚41’’E and Warning Area 517 until Jan. 28, from 8am to 11:30pm. Marine vessels are advised to remain clear of the area for the duration of the exercises and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.
The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Radio Barrigada and Dandan-Malojloj on Jan. 19-21 from 9am to 11:55pm. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity during the training.
The U.S. Navy will conduct live fire exercises in open ocean on Jan. 19-21 from 9am to 11:55pm at the following coordinates: 13˚26’’N/145˚08’’E, 13˚42’’N/144˚36’’E. Marine vessels are advised to remain clear of the area for the duration of the event and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.
The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Agat Bay, Outer Apra Harbor, and Orote Point on Jan. 19-21, from 9am to 11:55pm. Blank ammunition will be used for this training. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they hear or see increased activity.

The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Inner Apra Harbor on Jan. 23, from 9am to 12pm. The public is advised to be aware of the event.
These trainings support readiness and are critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific. (PR)
