News Briefs – February 14, 2020
Small craft advisory hoisted
A small craft advisory remains in effect through Sunday night, with northeast winds of 25 to 30 knots and occasional gusts of up to 35 knots through Friday night. Winds will lower to around 20 to 25 knots Saturday.
Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, combined seas of 11 to 14 feet will gradually subside to 9 to 12 feet Sunday. Highest seas will be east of the islands and waters exposed to swell from the east to northeast.
These winds and seas will be hazardous to operators of small craft. The public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid sailing in these conditions. (Saipan Tribune)
