New pitching leader in Masters; Acosta stays on top
The BSI Aces’ Ben Duenas is the new pitching leader in the 2016 Masters Baseball League, while his teammate John Acosta kept the top spot in the batting list.
Duenas’ 2.33 ERA led eight other pitchers. He took the lead after pitching 15 innings in the BSI Aces’ nine games and allowing only five runs. Papa Bears’ Bob Lizama moved up to second with his 2.63 ERA (eight innings pitched and three runs allowed), while former leader Melvin Sakisat dropped to third with his 2.96 ERA (26 innings pitched and 11 runs allowed).

In the batting race, Acosta’s .618 is still the best in the field. He went 21-for-34 at bat to lead 14 others. The Old Stars’ Jess Mesa is at second place and the only other batter to average at least .600. He was 18-for-30 at the plate.
GSM Masters’ John Terlaje (.571) and Jerry Ayuyu (.538), and the Old Stars’ Manny Cabrera (.531) rounded out the Top 5.

The batting leaders were based on 24 or more times at bat.

The GSM Masters are ranked third with their 6-3 card, followed by Papa Bears (3-5), Saisei (3-6), and Rubak (1-8). Papa Bears won over Rubak last Wednesday, 34-24.
