A sixth group under Lion’s Club International inducted its charter officers at the Kanoa Resort Saipan in Susupe last Sunday.

Charter president Arceli Lizama said the new group is called Saipan Centennial Lion’s Club.

“Our main goal really is to help with the community,” Lizama told Saipan Tribune. “We have actually already started to participate in community projects,” she added, noting that members of the new charter would be participating in the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality’s cleanup this Sept. 15, 2018.

“This would be our first community project,” she said.

The group’s vice presidents include Jasminda Guiao and Ruth Reyes. Other officers include club membership chairperson Carmel Joan Cabrera, secretary Ligaya Mangahis, assistant secretary Grace Cruz, treasurer Lourdes Ortiz, assistant treasurer Aurelia Rodriguez, club service chairperson Angelo Tiamzon, membership director Nenita Marquez, safety officer Manolo Rosales, first year director Juanito Sarmiento, and second year director June Ortiz.

Special officers for the club include Federico Ortiz and Vilma Emboltorio.

The 15 officers comprise almost half of the whole group’s organization, which Lizama said has 38 members.

According to Lizama, one of the few projects the group is looking at is a feeding program and a health fair, where members of the organization could offer food and clothing to those in need and a quick medical check up. Specifics continue to be discussed within the group.
