New laws allot funds for Rota scholarships, medical beneficiaries

Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, in his capacity as acting governor, signed last Friday three Rota local bills into law that allocate funding the island’s scholars and its medical beneficiaries.

House Local Bill 22-1, D1 appropriates $60,000 for the Rota Municipal Scholarship Foundation. This bill becomes Rota Local Law 22-1.

House Local Bill 22-2, D1 appropriates $60,000 from the Poker Licensing Fee Account for medical subsistence allowance for Rota hemodialysis and terminally-ill patients. This bill becomes Rota Local Law 22-2.

House Local Bill 22-6 appropriates $21,272 for inte-island medical referral stipend for Rota patients and their escorts. This bill becomes Rota Local Law 22-03.

Sen. Teresita A. Santos (Ind-Rota) and Rep. Donald Manglona (Ind-Rota), who are co-chairs of the Rota Legislative Delegation, witnessed the signing of the bills at Palacios’ office at the Office of the Governor. (PR)
