Gov. Eloy S. Inos signed into local law on Monday a measure allowing Tinian to keep all local cockfighting license fees to funds its municipal scholarship program.

The governor signed Rep. Trenton Conner’s (Ind-Tinian) House Local Bill 18-50 into Tinian Local Law 18-10.

Under the new local law, Tinian gets to keep all local cockfighting license fees to fund the Tinian Municipal Scholarship Board’s special account for the island’s scholarship recipients.

The new law allows all competing deposits to be collected by the Tinian Municipal Treasury and for the winning bidder’s deposit to remain with the municipal treasury.

It also mandates the license fee to deposited into a special account created by the Tinian Municipal Treasury for the specific use of the Tinian Municipal Scholarship Board for the island’s scholarship recipients.
