New history and culture exhibit at Bank of Saipan
The Northern Marianas Humanities Council has partnered with the Bank of Saipan to present a free exhibit on culture and history at the bank’s Beach Road, San Jose location.
The attractive exhibit features information about cultural practitioners; a lighatutuur display; photos of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian; historical facts about latte stones; wood carvings; authentic ancestral Chamorro sling stones; and more.
“The display we’ve prepared at the Bank of Saipan is one that celebrates who the indigenous peoples of the Marianas are at our roots,” said Leo Pangelinan, executive director of NMHC. “We’ve made sure to include displays that provide a sample of projects produced or funded by the council that focus on our islands’ cultural heritage and history. Our council extends its appreciation to the Bank of Saipan for being a gracious host of the exhibit and to the NMI Museum of History and Culture and the Commonwealth Council on the Arts and Culture for their contributions.”
The exhibit can be viewed during working hours at the San Jose branch from 9am to 4pm between Nov. 3 and Dec. 4, 2021. There is no charge to view the exhibit. (PR)
